It is a large volume with hundreds of wonderful engravings on all sorts of items of interest at the time. There is news of the common man, news of disasters, the royals, the Paris Exposition, military news with illustrations of battles, winning horses at certain races and many other items. Science and art are represented as well. This is Victoriana at its best, and a wonderful peek at life during 1878. The volume is clean and tight--boards show wear as shown.
